Muay Thai and Muay Boran
Muay Thai or Thai Boxing was originally created for the Thai military in the 16th century.
It is known as the "Art of Eight Limbs" as it uses punches, kicks, elbows, and knees, thus using eight points of contact.

At Caparica Muay Thai you can learn the most advanced techniques of true Muay Boran, the oldest style of Muay Thai, still allowed in the ring. A few selected students have the honor to learn many techniques of Muay Boran, the most dangerous style.

Muay Boran includes deadly, hand-to-hand, and ground fighting techniques, in addition to standing techniques, which are the only ones allowed in official Muay Thai fights.

Being the most traditional and most complete aspect of Muay Thai, and according to the school's philosophy, the student - Muay Nak - also learns the greeting to the coach, Wai Kru and the Ram Muay ritual dance which is still practiced today before Muay Thai fights.
